Author Guidelines

Guidelines for authors

Cuaderno de Pedagogía Universitaria conceives writing as a formative instance, and constitutes one of the ways to promote the permanent development of teachers in the pedagogical area, calling them to participate with scientific articles, experience stories, essays, interviews and bibliographic reviews.

The research will focus on the teaching-learning process in the field of higher education and the different pedagogical perspectives according to the areas of knowledge. Made by teachers in order to remain at the forefront in the pedagogical area and that the findings are shared with the national and international academic community.

  1. PAPERS
  2. The paper’s first page should contain:
  • Article title in English and Spanish
  • Author's name
  • Latest titles achieved and type of institutional affiliation of the author
  • Author's email address
  • Summary or abstract of the article, whose content is not less than 10 digited lines in English and Spanish
  • A maximum of five keywords on the article in English and Spanish.
  1. It is stipulated that articles should not exceed a length of 20 pages; book reviews, 5 pages and interviews, 4 pages. However, the possibility of varying these limits is available to the publication’s Editorial Direction.
  2. The texts must be original; therefore, they must not have been published before. Articles are received in Microsoft Word format, at 1½ space and in Arial 11 typography, left and right margins of one inch. All pages must be numbered, as well as each graph or table.
  3. APA style is required for the use of citations. Here are some cases:

When the direct or textual quotation is short (less than 40 words), it is placed as part of the text of the report, in quotes, following the wording of the paragraph where the appointment is made. For example:

In the investigation process, "one should not start writing until one has completed the study." (Acosta Hoyos, 1979, p. 107).

When the direct or textual quotation is 40 or more words, it is cited in a block, without quotes, in simple spaces, leaving an indentation within the text of the report.

  1. The bibliographic references are included at the end of the document, if applicable. They are sorted alphabetically and written according to the APA style. Here are some examples:

Books:

Surname, A. A., Surname, B. B. and Surname, C. C. (Year of publication). Document title: subtitle (Edition).  Editorial

  3. The journal operates under the double-blind evaluation process. It has an initial internal review by the Editorial Board to examine the relevance, coherence, contribution and style, and to decide if the evaluation process should be continued by the Scientific Committee, which is composed of expert evaluators to ensure the quality of the articles. This process takes approximately two months. The Editorial Board sends the authors anonymous opinions and recommendations on the article. The result of the review may be that a) the article may be published in the original version; b) the article may be published with the suggested modifications, or c) the article should not be published. Based on the suggestions offered to the writers, we reserve the decision not to publish any article that does not meet the recommendations made or the criteria of the magazine.
  4. Articles that do not conform to these provisions will be returned until they meet the indicated requirements.
  5. The Editorial Directorate of the publication reserves the right not to publish an article that has not been delivered on time and assess the possibilities of publishing it in an upcoming issue.
  6. The sending of a collaboration for its publication implies, by the author, the authorization to the PUCMM for its reproduction, in the future, by any means, in any support and at the time that it deems appropriate, provided that the author be informed and agree with the purposes of reproduction and express reference to the authorship of the document is made.
  7. Publishing in Cuaderno de Pedagogía Universitaria has no cost for article processing (APC) or for sending articles. The authors send their contributions without any charge, which are submitted to process, and are notified by sending an official letter of receipt and submission of their manuscript at no cost to the author.
  8. The authors issue a final approval of publication when the evaluation and editing process is completed.
  9. If the authors have any concerns or complaints about the editorial process, you can send us an email to the address: cuaderno@pucmm.edu.do
