About the Journal

Focus and scope

Cuaderno de Pedagogía Universitaria is an indexed academic journal that promotes research activity in the field of Higher Education. With the different articles, it intends to account for teaching/learning processes carried out within the faculties, and to communicate the theoretical and methodological advances in the field of education in order to promote the permanent training of university professors. It is published in Spanish, peer-reviewed, double blind.

Peer evaluation process

The journal operates under the double blind evaluation process. It has an initial internal review by the Editorial Board to examine the relevance, coherence, contribution and style, and to decide if the evaluation process should be continued by the Scientific Committee, which is composed of expert evaluators, in more than 75% external to the institution, to ensure the quality of the articles. The Editorial Board sends the authors anonymous opinions and recommendations on the article.

The result of the review may be that a) the article may be published in the original version; b) the article may be published with the suggested modifications, or c) the article should not be published. Based on the suggestions offered to the authors, we reserve the decision to not publish any article that does not comply with the recommendations or with the criteria of the journal.

If there is a discrepancy in the trial of the two experts summoned for the evaluation, the opinion of a third party will be sought for the arbitration without having knowledge of the previous evaluations. Decision on publication will be made based on the two similar evaluations.

Open access policy

This journal provides an open access to its content, based on the principle that offering the public free access to research helps a greater global exchange of knowledge.

History of the journal

Cuaderno de Pedagogía Universitaria was created in 2004 by the Centro de Desarrollo Profesoral (CDP) at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM). The journal was published in print format until 2018, and since 2014 it has also been made available to readers in an electronic version through the Open Journal System (OJS) platform. The email is  cuaderno@pucmm.edu.do. The CDP was created in 1996 so that the teaching staff could carry out postgraduate studies abroad in the disciplinary and pedagogical areas. The CDP is an academic center of the PUCMM that, under the dependency of the Academic Vice-rectory (VA), is responsible for directing academic management and teacher development.
